SMARTdoc Update failed

Sometimes the SMARTdoc update fails because of limited access to the Program Files folder.

How to manually update SMARTdoc?

You will need Administrator access to overwrite files in the Program Files folder.

Stop the SMARTdoc Gateway service

Note: The following only applies when updating the Server. You don't need to stop the SMARTdoc Gateway when updating a SMARTdoc client.

Connect to the server running the SMARTdoc Gateway. Open the Services window and search for the SMARTdoc Gateway. More info.

Right-click the SMARTdoc Gateway and select Stop.

Locate the update files to manually update SMARTdoc

Connect to the server running the SMARTdoc Gateway. Go to the root of your system drive and look for a folder C:\Updates. Open the folder with the latest version number. Inside you will see the update.zip file.

Update your SMARTdoc installation

Extract the contents of this .zip file to your SMARTdoc folder located in Program Files (x86). Accept the notification when prompted for administrator rights to overwrite the contents in the SMARTdoc folder.

Restart the SMARTdoc Gateway service

Note: The following only applies after updating the Server and you stopped the SMARTdoc Gateway.

Connect to the server running the SMARTdoc Gateway. Open the Services window and search for the SMARTdoc Gateway.

Right-click the SMARTdoc Gateway and select Start. Make sure the SMARTdoc Gateway is running before starting SMARTdoc.
