SMARTdoc is updated at least four times a year. These major updates are named after the 4 seasons. Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall; followed by the year.
When to update SMARTdoc?
When a new release is available a notification window is shown after starting the SMARTdoc application. This notification is shown in the following order:
- SMARTdoc Server: The server always shows the notification before the clients are informed.
(Please read the important note below when you get a notification that your SMARTdoc installation is too old.)
- SMARTdoc Clients: Once the server has been updated, the connected clients will receive the notification at their turn.
Please make sure that before you perform your SMARTdoc Server update a backup of the database has been created.
How to update SMARTdoc Server?
Please follow these steps for a successful upgrade:
- Run SMARTdoc with administrator rights. Right-click the SMARTdoc icon and select Run as administrator.
- Follow the update steps.
- After finishing the update, please restart the SMARTdoc Gateway.
Versions before Summer 2017: Because of a change in our update process, it will be necessary to Uninstall the SMARTdoc installation and perform a new installation with the latest setup. You will need to backup your config files manually before uninstalling and replace them when the new installation has finished.
SMARTdoc Server config files are located in your SMARTdoc installation folder:
(Default folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\SMARTdoc)
How to update SMARTdoc Clients?
Once a SMARTdoc Server has been updated, SMARTdoc clients are informed at their turn. Once started, every client will get a notification to update.
